New International FAO Antimicrobial Resistance System (InFARM) launched and call for data announced

The International Federation of Animal and Food Organizations (FAO) has launched a global information system called InFARM, aimed at strengthening national surveillance systems to generate reliable antimicrobial resistance (AMR) evidence in animals and food. The system, which includes an IT platform and related activities, builds on previous experience and knowledge gained by FAO and Quadripartite organizations. The system includes the deployment of the FAO Assessment Tool for Laboratories and AMR Surveillance Systems (ATLASS) and provides guidelines and materials for national surveillance activities. FAO is also providing training to national InFARM focal points and extending support from FAO personnel in decentralized offices. Training for the Latin America and Caribbean region will begin next week.
